Fantastic week

This has been a pretty fantastic week.  To start it off, on Tuesday we had a half mission conference and we had 2 70's there. That bring the total that I have met to 4 70's and one apostle. The 70's that came were Elder Neilson and Elder Stanfill. Elder Stanfill will be giving a talk in general conference Saturday afternoon session.
So we picked up two new investigators this week, so that brings the grand total for this transfer to six new investigators.  The next thing is we had stake conference this week so we drove down to Tallahassee and stayed the night with our zone leaders and drove back on Sunday. When we got home we had dinner and decided to go and see one of our investigators that lives close to us. we got in and had a great lesson with him. we were reading 3 Nephi 11 and we got to a part where it said to be baptized and be saved or no and be dammed and the spirit nudged me to extend a baptismal invitation.  It wasn’t the normal "will you follow the example of Jesus Christ" I just asked "do you want to be baptized" and he opened up and we now have a date set for October 31, and yes I know that is Halloween.
Also the hurricane that is coming this way shouldn’t do much up here but we have been told to have are 72 hour kits prepared and our cars topped off with gas.
Success Academy is no1 in the nation?  That is so cool.

One Year Down!

August 10

So this week has been good. We had our first other lesson this week, it went well. It really sucks building an area from the ground up. So small towns have advantages and disadvantages, the advantages are that the people most of the time are nicer, but on the other hand the town has been completely over worked and it is hard to find people out in the boonies. So on Sunday we had to teach primary. With two brothers that are the only primary kids. We were given the lesson and then when the first hour was up no one showed up to take over so we had them color and we just watched. They were really rambunctious and they were wrestling in the middle of class and with our missionary rules we couldn’t do much about it (we are not allowed to touch them). So it was an adventure. So this week was my year mark, crazy to think that I have been out longer than I have left.

So this week was fun. I had two tradeoffs and I left the area two times. The first one I went to Thomasville and the second one I was in Tallahassee. They were both really good for me. So we had a really rough day yesterday. We were tracting and we ran into a Baptist who was "concerned for our salvation" and he wouldn’t take anything we said to him. Next we were going up to knock on this door and the owner came up on his tractor and told us to get off his property and he wouldn’t even accept a free family history card. I got really stressed and when we got home that night we planned and I went to bed.

I go to send you pictures and I always forget about some stuff that happens. I got stung by a bee and Saturday and I also made cookies, some of them didn’t make it to the picture.

So this week has been good. I have got to know all of the members because there is like 15 of them. But we have been picking up some new investigators. The work here is slowly picking up. So one thing that happened this week is sometimes we pack a dinner so we don’t have to drive back to the house and then back to town. So I had my sandwich and Elder McEwan decided to go to taco bell. Well I was broke and I have only eaten at taco bell twice here.
I can honestly say that that was one of the most awkward moments of my life when I walked into taco bell with a sandwich and sit down and start eating.

August 3rd

The new area is different, in my last two areas I have lived in the city and this area I am in the boonies. Our area covers all of Grady County. When I got here there was nothing to do because the elder I replaced was going home and he was trunky. So we made a map and fixed up the area book. We have been tracting all week. It has been in the 100s all week. It is so hot.
But on the bright side we get fed more than my last area we get fed regularly 4 days of the week. I’m going to get fat here. So crazy, the temple will be so cool. I can’t believe that everyone is already coming home. I guess I got on the boat late. Make sure to record some of Braxton talking when he gets home. I want to hear his accent.

Birthday and Transfer

July 13
My birthday was good. It feels really weird that I am in my twenties now it is so crazy. No! My companion is super cool. He isn’t trunky at all. He is a super good missionary. The investigators are doing OK, we only have two that are showing any kind of progression. One came to church but we are having a hard time meeting with him and getting him to come back to church. The other we just barely started working with. He is super cool. One thing that I learned today that is super cool, like mind blowing, is in D&C 131 towards the end.  So cool, I like stuff like that.
we went to the air museum

I got your cake, robin sent me one, and I bought one.

July 20
It always seems to rain on Sunday here. We were biking around on Sunday and we started to talk to a guy and he gave us each a tie. This random guy just offers us a tie. It was really weird but I got a palm tree tie now. We found out that the Pensacola elders are being taken out.  So Elder Christensen is going home and I am being transferred.  So don’t send stuff to me right know. There are definitely a lot of people who don’t have the right idea about what we believe.  Just in this transfer we have had two people tell us that we are not Christian. And everyone wants to bash with us.
Man I will miss the beach. You should plan the next one so that I can come still. I will have to get rid of my farmers tan. I even have a tan line on my neck where my collar goes. The temple in cedar will be so awesome.

July 27
I am in Cairo, Georgia. My new companion is Elder McEwan. He is from Bountiful Utah. He goes home in 3 months. It has been a crazy few days. So last week I had to go to the dentist because one of my fillings was loose and when they were looking around the filling popped out. They set me up with another appointment that day and I got it fixed. It is crazy to think that I hit my year mark next week. It has gone by fast and slow at the same time. Day by day it is slow but looking back it has gone by super-fast. So Cairo is a branch and there were only like ten people there. And on Wednesday they asked me to give a talk on Sunday, only a few days away. It was super stressful but it went well. Cairo is a small town and we also have an even smaller town that is also in our area and there we have the entire county. So we live in the boonies. But is should be fun.

July 6, 2015

I got a referral from grandpa Funk.  I just got the number and address today so we will see how it works out because it might be in the Perdito area. But we might have a trade off the day we try to contact them.
On the 4th we had a ward activity that was cool. then later in the day right before the fireworks we tried to do a family history booth where people were gathering for the fireworks. Most of the people were in a hurry to get a spot so it wasn't very successful but it was still cool. I didn't get to see any fireworks :(
For fast Sunday I made some biscuits. and they were super good.

New light (for the 4th)
