Month of November

Nov 2
So this week there was a Halloween event in Jay that we went to, to help the branch hand out candy and I wore my suit of armor it was super fun. Over the weekend it poured rain especially Saturday night. Elder Huntsman’s first name is Tray. So we are still in a branch but we have a few more people, but the thing is that all of the active members live in Jay so we never get fed. So mom in her letter asked about the Christmas calendar that she sent me. So I don't have it any more, I’m super sorry, when you get transferred a lot of stuff gets misplaced. Like I left my pirate flag in Cairo :( but about my clothes, a member in Pace actually bought me some new pants and I don't have any of the pants I came out with except my suit pants. I had to have the grey suit pants let out 2 inches. But there is a big rip in the butt so I don't know what to do with them. but even the new pants I got in Pace one of them is not doing so good there was a hole worn through the pocket that I had to patch and the back belt loop broke ant there is another one getting the same way. But pretty soon I will be sending home some packages, one for me that I am just sending home and one is all of your Christmas presents, so don't open it.

So this week was pretty good. So when I got transferred here they had a baptism set up so we are going to have a baptism on the 28th. There is a lot of work in Brewton. A less active we have been working with came to church two times in a row and he is on track to receive the Melchizedek priesthood. So we don't get to go to the temple because the closest you can get to a temple anywhere in our mission is like 4 hours away.

Things are going good here in Brewton. So the less active that has been coming the last few weeks took us out to eat at a real southern place. So Danyelle, and yes that is how she spells it, she is doing good. She wants me to baptize her. So the carmelitas were super good. They even gave us the left overs.

Nov 23
So first an update on Danyelle. So she was standing up for what she believed and her dad hit her. She ran away and the cops showed up at our house looking for her. A family found her crying on the side of the rode and took her to their house and she called us on their phone while the cops were at our house. The cops talked to her and got the address and headed over to get her. They asked if she could stay with us for the night but  we couldn’t so we called one of our investigators who was Danyelle’s moms cousin. She stayed the night and her parents came and got her the next day, she is currently in Louisiana. And her parents have put out a lot of threats toward us so we are trying to stay away from the situation. Elder huntsman is going home soon and I will be getting a new companion on Wednesday. Thank you for the money I didn’t know I got it till you told me. Love you mom

So this week has been good. So we had transfers on Wednesday and I got a new companion, Elder Decker. He is from Houston Texas and he has been out for 20 months. We had a nice Thanksgiving with our branch president. After we ate food, we sat down and played a really old LDS trivia game with crazy hard questions but it was really fun. After that we went to another member’s house and they tried my pie and they said that I would have to come over and help them cook for Christmas. We will have to measure me when I get home to see if I have stopped growing yet. Tell tanner happy birthday for me.

New Area

October 19, 2015

So I am now in Brewton Alabama. Our address is:
109 Lynbrook Dr
Brewton, Alabama 36426.

So I’m just going to be stuck in Pensacola zone my whole mission, I made it out for 3 months but they reeled me back in. My new companion is Elder Huntsman, he is from Rexburg Idaho and he has been out for 20 months. So there are those missionaries that train a ton and I’m just the one that will kill everyone. He will most likely be the 3rd companion I kill. Since I am new, I have no idea what is going on yet but I will. We are still in a branch and we have a 45 min drive to church. It is a little bigger than Cairo but our area is huge. So our mission is really focusing on family history and we teach people how to use it.  You can’t teach people how to use it if you don’t know how to do it, so I am learning.  The names I sent, I went back on all of the immediate lines back to the 1600 and just requested everyone that needed them.

Pepper spray and Fire Hydrants

September 28, 2015
So this week we had a zone conference and we got this new little brochure for family history to teach out of. Also we were told that now we are going to focus on less actives. So we went hard on contacting less actives and most of the people that we actually talked to told us that they moved. We have found like six people who have moved already. Also I lost my camera charging cord and I couldn’t find it so I’m going to have to buy one soon. This week I made some cinnamon swirl cake and it was pretty good. It is crazy how we missionaries don’t get told anything, we didn’t find out about Elder Scott till Sunday.

Suit of Armor so far

October 5, 2015
So this week was fun. So we had a trade off with our district leader but they are in a trio so he just came to Cairo with both of us. That morning when we woke up we were surprised to find a block of ice on the counter with all of elder McEwan’s change and my name tag in it. So for conference we were the only ones in the church for every session. So before the priesthood session we went to dairy queen to get ice cream because the priesthood session got out at 10. When we were at dairy queen they charged me $40.60 instead of $4.06, some pretty high quality ice cream, but they put the money back on my card right after. My favorite talk was Elder Hollands about mothers. All I wanted to do was give mom a hug. So Ja’coleman has not been staying in contact with us and he has not been keeping his appointments. It is almost time to drop him we are giving him one last chance on Friday.

What it looks like every morning
October 12, 2015
So this week was good, so Monday night I got pepper sprayed! We went to contact a less active that we knew nothing about. We knocked on the door and a lady came out and we asked here is she was the person we were looking for. She told us to get off her property. So we went and stood on the road and we asked her again if the person we were looking for lived there. Then she threatened to call the cops. And it was dark so we didn’t see that she had pepper spray that she sprayed at me. It missed and got all over my arm. After that we walked away not knowing if the person we were looking for lived there.

Pepper spray
So I am being transferred. I won’t know who my new companion or area is till Wednesday. So I have had to speak once here. There is only one week out of the month that the branch has speakers from the branch. They pull people from the high council to speak. And I think that I won’t have much of an accent when I come home, my grammar will just be horrible. So we actually dropped Ja'coleman because he is not ready.

the field is white already to harvest

We were walking around Whigham and found that they paint there fire hydrants

September 7-21

Sept. 7, 2015
So this week our investigator with the baptismal date, Ja'coleman Green, came to church this week. He showed up late and almost missed sacrament meeting but he stayed for the rest of church. There is not a lot to do on p-days here in Cairo, so I have decided to make a suit of armor out of cardboard and duct tape. So that will keep me busy on p-days for a while.

Sept. 14, 2015
So this week was a rough week. All of our appointments fell through. One of our investigators dropped us, and we haven't had solid communication with any of our investigators for 2 weeks. So most of this week has been tracting, so not a lot has happened this week. The weather is starting to get better, it is cooler in the morning, but during the day it is still in the high 80's

Sept. 21, 2015
So not a lot happened this week, it was filled with mostly tracting. On Saturday we had service at a members house we were planning on digging a trench for an underground fence but when we got there they said they would rent a trencher. So we ended up moving some bricks and we helped them plan out where the fence would be laid. But the good thing was they fed us breakfast when we got there and they fed us lunch before we left. Yesterday we saw two bunnies. Also we had a lesson with Ja’coleman and he said that he wants to bring his whole family to church. If he does, our primary will triple in size.
